Keep the data you are working with safe and secure with this tool for active data storage.

All research staff and postgraduate research students have a free individual space in DataStore. There are also shared spaces for research centres.

Keeping your data in DataStore means it is fully backed-up so all the information will still be there if there’s a problem with your personal computer or laptop.

And it’s secure so only you or the designated people in your research collaboration can get access to it.

Each researcher at the University automatically receives 500 gigabytes (0.5 terabytes) of space, known as your homespace. You can also choose to allocate up to half of your homespace to a shared space for your research collaboration.

You or your research collaboration can get also more storage space if required but there will be a charge for that.

DataStore works with DataSync so you can access your data from anywhere and share it with anyone outside the University.

Once your research is complete and you no longer need to work on the data, you can move the files to one of the University's services for publishing or long term storage data.

Specific to this tool:

• Users who access the tool with with a Friend login will only be able to access the shared allocation for the project(s) they are working on. They will not receive a personal allocation of space
• The primary use of the free storage allocation is for research purposes. However it is accepted that some personal teaching or administrative data may be held in DataStore. Research Services Data Management Policy
