Using DataShare in linguistics research

Dr Bert Remijsen talks about his experience archiving and sharing his Linguistics research data.

Dr Remijsen has gathered a significant body of audio and text research data from individuals living in South Sudan as part of his research into the languages of Shilluk and Dinka. The Collection of Shilluk narratives and songs offers a perspective on the life cycle in Shilluk culture, through topics ranging from childhood, over growing up, marriage, age sets, to mourning.

In this case study video, Dr Bert Remijsen speaks about his successful experience archiving and sharing his Linguistics research data through Edinburgh DataShare, and seeing people from all corners of the world making use of the data in “unforeseeable” ways.
