Edinburgh Research Archive (ERA)

Need a Digital Object Identifier (DOI) for your project report or briefing paper? Deposit your research output in ERA.

The Edinburgh Research Archive is a digital repository of original research produced at The University of Edinburgh. The archive contains documents written by, or affiliated with, academic authors, or units, based at Edinburgh that have sufficient quality to be collected and preserved by the Library, but are produced outside of traditional publishing and distribution channels. This type of material is sometimes known as Grey Literature.

Holdings in ERA include full-text digital doctoral theses, masters dissertations, reports, policy literature, working papers, newsletters, government documents, poster presentations and white papers.

When you upload your research to ERA, a record is created that can be easily found by search engines like Google. The repository generates a unique id number/link - the DOI (digital object identifier) - so you can reference your data from Pure and in publications. It also creates a citation to help other researchers reference it easily and accurately. It’s a way to maximise the visibility and impact of your data. It also means your outputs are kept safe for posterity.
